Association Laboratory to Present at ASAE Marketing, Membership, & Communications Conference in DC

Chicago, Illinois, May 15, 2012 – Cecilia Sepp, Vice President, Association Laboratory, will co-present with Wendy Mann, Director, Communications, National Telecommunications Cooperative Association, and Brad Monterio, Managing Director, Colcomgroup, Inc. at ASAE’s annual Marketing, Membership & Communications Conference in Washington, DC, on Thursday, May 24.

The presentation, “Write the Right Message,” is a three-hour “deep dive” session. It is a hands-on practical workshop to help association marketing and communications professionals write stronger and more effective messages to tell compelling stories, whether those messages are used for marketing, membership, PR/media relations, thought leadership, or advocacy. Many factors will force associations to change the way in which they message and reach their audiences with compelling stories. These factors include new association models, evolving membership structures, emerging technologies, influential social media platforms, differing generational needs among membership segments, and others.

“Old models and methods of communicating may no longer be effective; this also impacts the way in which associations craft their messages. Wendy Mann, Brad Monterio, and I created this workshop to provide an overview of these factors of change, to review concepts that participants can apply across the communications spectrum, and to help participants continue to focus on strong messaging – the key to any successful communications program,” Sepp explained.

Cecilia Sepp is a nationally recognized leader in the association community and has been recognized for her service by both ASAE and American Independent Writers (AIW). She is a member of the professional faculty of ASAE University, leading online courses on component relations, supervisory management, marketing, and leadership. She has served as Chair of the ASAE Communication Section Council and is currently serving on the Content Creation Committee for Association Media & Publishing. She recently authored the chapter on Components & Strategy for the revision of the ASAE Component Relations Handbook (to be published in 2012).
